John was the former Leeds City Councillor(1980-1987) and former MP for Leeds West(1987-2010) Minister of State (1997-2001), Adviser to PM on Faith Communities Chair of Churches regional commission Currently Chair of Leeds Diocese Justice and Peace Commission.
Philip Bee (Convenor)
Philip is currently Superintendent Minister of the Denby Dale and Clayton West Circuit of the Methodist Church in West Yokrshire. He was formerly Churches Regional Officer for Yorkshire and the Humber. He has experience in public issues that include Climate Change, Welfare Reform, and Financial Inclusion.
Janet Bryer (Secretary)
Janet is currently the Germinate Leadership Programme Director (a development programme for leaders in the rural church), with experience in delivery of multiple church and community projects and current Company Secretary of Yorkshire Churches Rural Business Support Ltd. She was formerly Churches Regional Churches for Yorkshire and the Humber administrator.
Ian has on 1 March 2017 taken up a post at Methodist Central Hall in Manchester City Centre as Team Leader of the Ministry Team there, having previously served as a Presbyter in Doncaster within the Sheffield Methodist District. He was formerly a Solicitor in Local Government at Gateshead Council. He has experience in public issues that include Civic Engagement, Homelessness, Welfare Reform, Financial Inclusion and Climate Change. He has been co-opted to bring a North West perspective to the Steering Group.
Janine Atkinson (URC representative)
Janine is minister in a group of churches known as the SPACE Group of Churches (The SPen And Calder Enterprise). The group is made up of four United Reformed Churches and one URC / Methodist LEP. She has experience as a Church Related Community Worker in the URC and also a background in Management within the Voluntary Sector. She is interested in a broad range of public issues, but currently concerned about issues relating to social care, mental health and dementia care.
Jenny Jones (Methodist Leeds District)
Jenny is currently Deacon at Leeds Methodist Mission, a city centre Mission. This role involves her engaging with civic partners on issues such as welfare reform and financial inclusion, as well as working with those who are living with the consequences of sanctions, homelessness and mental health cutbacks.
Grace is the Secretary for Church and Society for the URC and is Responsible for supporting the development of the regional JPIT networks.
She has always been interested in helping people make connections between faith, politics and action and has previously worked in communications for a human rights charity and as a political researcher.
She supports JPIT Yorkshire in an advisory capacity.
