God of all peoples, creator and sustainer of all humanity, life-giver, pain-bearer, the One who desires both peace and justice, show us the way to let small acts of kindness overpower large acts of destruction. Give us hope.
As we look at the landscape of the North, the rolling hills, the Curry Miles, the mosques and churches, gurdwaras and temples, the hills of optimism and the valleys of depression, bring us together to subvert the rhetoric of hatred and speak of love and joy and laughter.
Let understanding defeat hatred and love overpower stereotypes until we can say ‘Look, Creator, we are making things new! Let the Yorkshire people say together, in whatever accent they choose, ‘We all want to speak the language of peace’.
